Mantle Shelf

A mantle shelf is a commonly available item at the home centers of the world, but they are not well made and are never the correct size or finish.

A custom mantle shelf can be made of any depth front/back, length left/right, and thickness vertically. The way we make the shelf is using furniture grade 3/4 veneered plywood for the top and bottom and surround it will matching hardwood deluxe molding/s, usually 2 1/2" chair rail mold. We then finish to match your goal.

The installation does not require support brackets. The box is hollow at the back and a properly sized cleat is supplied that is attached to the wall wherever and however you wish. The mantle box then slides over the cleat and is held with a couple of finish nails. It is sleek and distinctive.

The typical cost to size, make, and finish a standard thickness mantle shelf is about $700 at the shop, not including site measurement or installation which are extra.
