Exterior Board and Batten Shutters with Variable Boards & Options
Board & Batten exterior wood shutters inspire a Mediterranean feel. By incorporating the Z-board, the Board & Batten exterior wood shutter is a classic on Ranch style architecture.
Constructed from full 1" thick equally spaced, custom sized boards. Board width is determined by overall shutter width and Board count, which may be specified to achieve custom board counts.
Unless otherwise specified, the goal is vertical boards of about 6" +/- depending on overall panel width. If decorative cut outs are desired the panel must have a even number of boards for the cut out on a gap joint. Standard gap is 1/8"
Constructed with full 1" thick horizontal or Z Battens for strength and durability.
The horizontal battens, or cross Z can be on the front or the back of the panel. The overall thickness becomes 2" if functional hinges are being considered. 
Each Board & Batten exterior shutter joint has stainless steel screws, as well as a wood peg, preventing any possibility of sagging over time. This time tested construction method is further enhanced by the use of Franklin type III, water proof exterior glue.
Western Red Cedar, a naturally decay-resistant wood, is the preferred choice for this exterior shutter application. Straight and light in weight, nothing matches the performance of Western Red Cedar.

WESTERN RED CEDAR
Our choice material. Naturally decay resistant, light weight, straight and it has the lowest expansion ratio of any species. The tight grain of old growth Western red is unmatched. FSC certified sustainable.

EXTERIOR SHUTTER FINISHING OPTIONS
(Additional charges apply.)
Option 1: Spray Primed
Each shutter is sanded and sprayed with a quality oil-based primer. Additional light sanding is required prior to finishing.
Option 2: Primed and Finished*
Each shutter is sanded, primed with two coats of oil-based primer and sanded again. Then the shutters are finished with a top quality exterior paint of your choice.
*All color finishes may be matched to your national brand of paint by supplying the manufacturer's name and color number or code.
Board & Batten Shutter Design Variations
An even number of vertical boards are required for decorative cut outs.

Shutters may be ordered to the nearest 1/8": Example: 14-7/8"w x 56-3/4"h
Vertical Boards and Horizonal Battens are each a full 1" thick.
For shutter heights over 42 ", three horizontal batten boards are recommended.
Prices are for CLEAR (no fingerjoints) Western Red Cedar; for select grain STAIN-GRADE with no filler add 10%.
Pricing below includes Shipping & Handling by truck "dock to dock" in the Continental US, but "local delivery fees" may apply for residential deliveries.

- Take a picture of your home "from the street".
- Take a picture of each window to get shutters.
- If you already have shutters, take a picture of one of those too.
- Measure the appoximate height of each window "recess" to include all window trim.
- Measure the approximate width to include all window trim.
- If you're trying to match existing louver shutters, measure the distance from the bottom of one louver to the next.
