Cabinet Drawers

CABINET & FURNITURE DRAWER REPLACEMENTS

Kitchen cabinet drawers are famous for faulting in a variety of ways. The basic cause is that they likely were not made well to begin with and in use they get a lot of rough treatment.

Common problems include the drawer front being busted away from the drawer box. It happens when slambing the drawer closed too hard, especially with heavy contents. We fix 'em.

Another common problem is the drawer box faults at any of the 4 corner joints. It happens for similar reasons but starts with poor design. We fix e'm.

Finally, drawer bottoms warp or get loose from overweight. We fix them also.

There comes a time however, when remaking the drawer box becomes required. While we do fix them but sometimes it is cost practical to start with a new top quality drawer box.

See the section on Drawer Pricing. A new solid maple hardwood lumber drawer box with dovetail joints will last forever. We supply 'em. The only draw back is takes a couple of weeks to get 'em.  When received we can then transfer the drawer front to the new box and modify the box for its track or slide system.

The typical cost for the new box is $90 to $125 each plus $30 shipping/handling, plus the modifications mentioned just above. The new box includes a clear lacquer pre-finish.

Pull-out Trays: A cabinet pull-out tray is the same drawer box with no cabinet drawer face and with the box front having the scoop out area. Additional cost $10 each.

Furniture drawers are basically no different, but are usually much larger, longer, or wider than kitchen drawers. Old chests and dressers frequently have faulting drawer boxes because of similar causes and due to size have twisted and warped. The solution is again a new drawer box.

Furniture drawer slide systems vary widely. The most common problem is the bottom center track of wood breaks. We supply 'em or fix 'em.
