Replacement new exterior front doors, jambs, sidelights should be prefinished before installation. We provide that service.

Final sanding and cleanup per door or side panel or jamb: $30 to $120 / unit as needed

New door (with one glass section) $500 to $600

Each new side panel (with one glass section) done at the same time add $250 to $300

A new jamb for a standard door (assembled) done at the same time add $250 to $300

A new jamb for a door with 2 side panels (assembled) at same time add $300 to $400

  • Oversized or special doors quoted separately.
  • Oil painting of jambs same price with paint provided by client.

Item Receipt: Deliveries accepted 8am to 4pm weekdays except holidays. The homeowner’s installer may pickup the completed work with prior arrangements made by the client.

Finish Ready: We assume the glass is already mounted in the door, so we will mask off both sides. We presume the components arrive in fully finish ready condition. Since they usually do not, the client should understand that final sanding and minor wood repairs are additional based on requirements. For exterior work wood putty is not recommended. We sand and steam dents for best results.

Staining: We spray Pratt and Lambert Tonetic or Minwax stains, all of which are on sample boards in our showroom. While they are color fast, any stain will fade with exposure to the sun. Exact darkness control can not be achieved except to apply the stain. Darkening toners should not be used. If a client’s color sample is provided, we will get the items as close as they will allow.

Exterior Finish: We spray three coats of Minwax Helmsman outdoor “spar urethane” varnish. The first coat acts as its own sealer. Helmsman provides exceptional protection from sunlight, rain, moisture, and temperature changes. Special ultra-violet UV absorbers help protect the wood from the graying and fading effects of the sun. It also contains special oils to help the finish expand and contract with the wood as the seasons and temperature change.

Finish Procedures: The finish is hand scuffed between coats as required. The fine finish is applied in our spray booth using compressed air, not by airless pump or brush.

Sheen level: The same finish will be applied to the exterior and interior of all components. The recommended gloss level is satin or semi-gloss sheen.

Timeframes: The finish applications must dry fully between coats and when completed. The completion time is usually two weeks following adding into our backlog of other work. The timeframe that should be allowed is 3-4 weeks, but it can vary.

Warranty: The homeowner should clean, fine scuff and top coat with the same finish every 2 years depending on exposure to sun and weather. No durability warranty for the finish is provided due to exterior use. We certainly guarantee the initial quality of our finish work.

Terms: Our standard terms are 50% down payment with sales tax, with the balance paid before the item leaves our shop.

Pricing is subject to change and based on the conditions or requirements of the items being sprayed
